While exploring the historic and misty paths of Okunoin Cemetery in 2010, I came across this Buddha statue nestled perfectly among the towering ancient cedars. There was a profound stillness in the air at Mount Koya that I wanted to capture—the way the statue seemed to be at one with the surrounding nature and the centuries of history. I love how the soft focus of the leaves draws all the attention to the meditative expression of the figure. It’s a captured moment of pure Zen, preserved for your sanctuary.
